I need A Hero

I post a lot about monster, and why not? They're fun, bizarre, and when needed can be ferocious and threatening. For those times when a monster is threatening and terrorizing your town, its time to call in the big guns; its time to call in THE HEROS! A hero is the hope for the hopeless in fantasy. They are the protectors of all things good, and slayer of the wicked.

The Cleric looks into the distance,
thinking of the epic journey ahead.

Most heroes have the same qualities, honor, morality and courage but that doesn’t mean all heroes are the same. They can differ a lot and don't always have to be like Superman. They can be silly, aggressive and full of faults like regular people. The latter being something I feel missing in classic fantasy. All of the characters are so black and white; a good guy is without faults, and the villains are without any redeemable qualities and kill puppies in there spare time.

The Bunny Boppers, a gang of mallet wielding
kids the fight of monsters in their town at night.
With the hopes of one day stopping the notorious
"boogieman," creator of all monster.

That is not the case nowadays; characters are a lot more complex. All sorts of people can become a hero in today’s fantasy and I love creating new ones every day.

Comics Books, ASSEMBLE !

I love comic books.  I started reading them in high school and never stopped.  I only started buying my own, however a short while ago.  Comics can just be so expensive, which is why I was so excited to discover "The Mighty Mighty Monthly Philly Comic Con".

http://www.frankensteincomics.com/

It's a monthly event, held every first Sunday of the month, at the International House.  The people there sell comics and toys at amazing discounts. A majority of the books were around 50% off.

My Face Looking At all the Comics
It was a great time and if you live in the area and are a fan of comic books in general, come to next month's and get some great deals.

At the end of the day this is what Mia and I ended up with, all for about $35.  Next time I will need a box to carry it all away.

Reptilian Shaman

Since I am working on a project I don't have much new news to tell, so I just wanted to share some other work I do in my sketchbook in my down time, and continuing on with worlds of monsters and fantasy, Here is another creature summoned from the darkest depths my sketchbook.

Summon Spell

Like in the Goblin Savage image I made a while ago, with this image I wanted not just to create a creature, but also put it into some kind of class. This adds a whole new world to the image, now you have more insight into the creature and how it might at in the world around it.

Exaggerated Portrait # 9 : Frankie

"If I only Had A Brain"

Dear Doctor,

I’m writing to you today to make a request. Even though I am grateful to you for the medical treatment it seems as though you’ve forgotten to include my Thinkie Part in the last surgery. As it turns out there is very little you can do without one. I can't eat without getting food everywhere, I can’t walk without falling and now I don’t even remember how to play scrabble. I can't even begin to understand how I’m writing to you now though there is a great deal of drool coming from my mouth as I do.My neightbors are starting to grow sick of me since I’ve been throwing their children into the lake and then pooping on their lawns.
I know you’re busy Doc so I will get to the point and ask that if you would be so kind, I would love a "Thinkie part" for my head hole, so I can read this letter.

Yours truly
Frankie

Monster Sketches

I love monsters, like, really love them. As a kid I would spend hours just drawing all these different creatures and as I’ve grown up that love has remained the same. Something about creating all these never before seen creatures, it was like being an adventurer within my own mind; exploring the depths of imagination to find what has never been seen.

Another fun thing to do now that I’ve grown up is to actually come up with how these creatures would exist in reality.
For example the top right creature, what does it eat? Where does it live? It’s a fun world and I’m glad I get to share it with everyone.

Old Projects

Recently I finished my first job illustrating a children's book, which I'll elaborate on as soon as it gets printed. It was a very proud moment, however it was not the first book i had worked on.
A few years back, around my first year in college, I met Sally Guariglia. Sally was working on a self published book, that book was Godfree.  I created the cover, and a few spots.

If you're  interested in purchasing it check it out here: GODFREE  !!!
